TANZANIA SCOUTS ASSOCIATIONS MINUTES

Minutes of the meeting with the Tanzanian Scout Association

Dear Sir

RE: PRESENTATION OF A REPORT ON OUR DISCUSSION

IN ARUSHA 17th AUGUST, 2003

The above heading refers, kindly I would like to submit a short report on what has been

discussed between the Team from Africa Network Scout Fellowship leaded by you and

the team of represenatives from Scout Association.

We hope the resolutions reached will end up with a very well planned implementation as the result of growing up the scout movement in Tanzania as well as having a good impact to the communities which surrounds us.

It is our vision now to focus the impact of scouting in the villages where there is a great need of being helped in different aspects.

With this short letter. Thank you in advance.

Yours in Scouting

ATTENDED.

2. STEPHEN CLARK-ASSISTANT COUNTY COMMISSIONER,

3. DOUG CORBIN-U.K SCOUTS AFRICA NETWORK SCOUT FELLOWSHIP.

6. RAJABU KONDON AG(C.C.)

AIM OF NETWORKING

To let the National Scouts Associations knowing that the Africa Network Scout Fellowship exists and either by provisions and engaging in different community projects in the country or in advising the National Scouts Associations on different aspects concerning the support to the local communities.

AGENDA l-

INTRODUCE THE NEWLY FORMED AFRICA NETWORK SCOUT FELLOWSHIP.

This agenda was well discussed by both parties, from U.K. and Tanzania Scouts

Association. It was agreed that the newly formed Africa Network Scout Fellowship be

started soonest to link with Tanzania Scouts Association. The T.S.A. will therefore select a reliable Local Scout Association to work together at the area where the Network may resume its activities. Say in ARUSHA the L.A. of Arusha may be selected to work together in order to ensure perfect job is done or perfect expedition is performed.

In ensuring the proper Networking, it was agreed that the AFRICA NETWORK SCOUT

FELLOWSHIP would provide computers and tents to be sent to T. S. A. to help the

launching of WEBSITES in order to make easy and proper NETWORKING. Due to

taxes exemption the T.S.A may incur other small charges at the port like those of

clearing.

For the first time, the AFRICA NETWORK SCOUT FELLOWSHIP may support the

cost of the WEBSITES connection to the very chosen ZONES but in the future the T.S.A. will make sure it sustains itself in running those WEBSITES CENTRES.

AGENDA 2

BECOME ACQUAINTED WITH COLLEAGUES IN TANZANIA SCOUTS ASSOCIATION.

This also was well discussed that, by involving combining camps between scouts of

Tanzania and Scouts of U.K. can very much make easy and possible linking. Then the

community projects can be conducted while in combined camps between U.K. and

Tanzania Scouts.

This is to be applied in many activities such as mount climbing safaris, exchanging of

activities technicians such as of sea scouts in UK. to Tanzania and introduce the said

activity.

Also sharing short courses which may be organised by the Africa Network Scout fellowship, such courses like management courses and administration.

AGENDA 3

INVESTIGATE HOW U.K. SCOUTS CAN BECOME INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS, WHICH WILL PROMOTE THE GROWTH OF THE SCOUT

MOVEMENT IN TANZANIA

The best way which will bring good impact to the society where we live in, and to the

government is to involve ourselves (U.K and Tanzania Scouts) in building schools/ classes, to the areas or villages where they real need help. Repairing the schools, flooring, latrines buildings, digging of sanity water wells school libraries, and many similar projects.

These activities are suggested to be conducted during the school days i.e. June - August.

So as even other community members who are not members of the movement could see by their eyes what support the movement is giving to the society as the result is to

promote the growth of the movement in Tanzania. The Chairman of Africa Network Scout fellowship said it may he possible to construct the centres of children in difficult

circumstances including those affected and infected by HIVIAIDS but the Network will

not be able to provide technical support for example of experts in providing services to the centres because they don't have such people. We T.S.A., say if the construction is done it will help us on the side of experts as we may depend on the Tanzania

Commission for AIDS and other governmental organizations.

Also it was seen the importance of improving our National Training Camp at BAHATI

CAMP - MOROGORO in terms of introducing project sites i.e. Tailoring and strengthen

the existing one of carpentry industry.

AGENDA 4

RESEARCH FUTURE EXPEDITIONS FOR UK SCOUTS IN TANZANIA, FOR EXAMPLE SAFARI TRIPS AND CLIMBING MT. MERU AND KILIMANJARO

This was well advised that, the Tanzania Scouts Association should, make all necessary official arrangement to the authorities concerned so as to cut - cost at large during the expeditions. Because the TSA is an voluntary organisation and it has a status of being exempted to costs which might be charged if the expeditions will have to be done through other agents, therefore, it has been agreed that all safaris concerning the Africa Network Scout fellowship should be well organized through The Tanzania Scouts Association in order to get such advantages of being exempted.

Also it will make good sense if the safaris and climbing of mountains will envolve both

members of UK and members from Tanzania.

AGENDA 5

DISCUSDS PROCEDURES FOR VISA APPLICATIONS TO UK EVENTS AND

NITIFICATION OF IN COMING GROUPS TO

In connection to Visa applications to UK, the invitation letters from UK to Tanzania are

required by the Embassy Officers to have the UK Scouts LOGO in the letter head.

The Tanzania Scouts Association is insisting that, rejection of one member in a group let say of 20 scouts it happens should not judge the rejection of the whole group.

After all, the rejections which are done by the officers, we in TSA, strongly oppose

because they have no grounds and reality in it.

The chair of Africa Network Scout fellowship has promised to send it forward to UK

Scouts Association and help to solve the existing problem.

Also, on the notification of the groups to UK, the communication is the only solution to it

Early information and communication is the only thing can help in this.

The meeting was closed by all participants taking photos and the team, from Africa

Network Scout Fellowship prepared a Dinner for TSA representatives.

Thank you very much the team from Africa Network Scout fellowship for the initiatives

you have shown.

We look forward to see the Network take - off soon.

Thank you.
