YES Friends find the experience of friendship hugely rewarding. Not only do they learn new skills and make new youth friends in communities but they also experience a great sense of involvement by working with the youth during their friendly challenges.
YES provides the platform for support friends to have an opportunity to provide active youth support in in areas of education. They take time to listen, reason out and desire to support youth, develop their confidence and self-esteem.
Many youths come to YES Centre get support. Likewise, there are a large number of support friends who want to give something back to the community and to inspire a new generation of youth.
YES Friends of who subscribe to and agree with the idea of active support may start up YES Support Group in their own right with a desire to become more involved in youth support activities in Africa.
YES Friends support any project or program that promotes the youths. Many of you are already running this type of program and some of you may find the “need” to start a patrol in your community to support youths in Africa.
YES Friends aims to increase the financial, material, technical and moral support to the youth in Africa to enable them access quality and equitable education that will empower them to make real differences in their lives and for the subsequent generation.
YES Project is very interesting in that YES Friends actively participate in youth support challenges as they participate in educational tours and other voluntary development services in Africa.
YES Friends travel in person or vicariously and thus get to know and understand various cultures and traditions in Africa.
During their educational tours, they learn about life and culture of other youth and in many instances, this results in making friendly bonds further promoting international friendship.
YES Friends share knowledge, ideas and experiences and promote international scouting with a particular focus on building friendships with the youth in countries in sub-Saharan Africa region. Sustained youth 2 youth-friendship often lead to financial, material, technical or moral support and future exchange visits to each others country. This relationship also provides a sustainable and powerful infrastructure to promote policy and strategies for further youths support.
YES Friends are a wealthy in the support spirit and they take active responsibility to support the orphan youths in crisis across country, community or religion divide to beat the global AIDS emergency and extreme poverty. Their desire is also to participate in making HIV/AIDS pandemic and extreme poverty history in Africa.
YES Friends actively participate in resolving the social problems affecting Africa and especially extend the brotherly hand of friendship.
By leveraging the communication power of the internet, YES Friends communicate far, wide and deeply with each other. They exchange friendly letters using the internet, e-mails, radios, letters and publications to touch the lives of the supported youth. Many online friendships are made and maintained in this manner. Where necessary, YES assists with the language translation.
Through sustained friendship, YES Friends often surprise the supported youths with e-mail messages, cards, education support offers, adoption or graphic gifts.YES Project is therefore a historic and good opportunity for all YES Friends to use their greatness, wealth and influence in their day to day life to help the needy supported youths in Africa.

If you like the idea of supporting the work of YES, you could become involved in your local area, take up support in helping organise and run fundraising events in your area, support with project administration. YES Friends are unpaid and are encouraged to work for the duration of 3 to 12 months. During their support challenge period, they are provided with real life experience for the future or for showing that potential employer.

Current YES Friends Positions:
YES currently has several support positions available.
Terms of reference:
• Supporting the YES Country Director in regard to YES Project management, development and fundraising. • Assisting YES staff with the development and implementation of YES Project in Africa.
Assisting with training staff internally and also youth support through education and training.
Experience Required:
• Excellent oral and written communication english skills.
• Familiarity with youth issues.
• Familiarity working in an nonprofit organisation (NPO) environment; with particular experience in project design and management (grant applications, monitoring and evaluation, report writing)
• Experience with education, capacity-building and skills transfer (advocacy, youth health, youth rights and/or human rights)
• Scouting skills is a plus but not required.
