YES SCOUTS FRIENDS

YES Scouts Friends is a Scouts Friends Network committed to support the vulnerable scouts and non scouts youth and especially the orphans in Africa through friendship.

YES Scouts Friends are mostly scouts of the world, who wish to continue in a community service capacity. They are likely to be adult scouts who have a desire to continue supporting the principles of scouting but at arms length from local scouts groups.

Through their active support, YES Scouts Friends make a worthwhile contribution to the community development.

Adult Scouts who subscribe to and have a desire to continue supporting the principles of scouting but at arms length from local scouts groups may join YES Scouts Friends in their own right with a desire to become more involved in YES Project activities.

To join or associate with YES Scouts Friends, you don’t have to be a current member of Scouting, but you will need to become a member of the Scout of the World.

YES Scouts Friends aims to increase the finance, material, technical and moral support to vulnerable scouts and non scouts youth in Africa to enable them access formal and life skills education that will equip them with knowledge and skills to enable them make a real differences in their lives and that of the subsequent generation.

YES Project is very interesting in that YES Scouts Friends actively participate in supporting the orphans in Africa as they participate in discovery adventures and voluntary services in Africa

YES Scouts Friends travel in person or vicariously and thus get to know and understand various cultures and traditions.  In their discovery adventures in Africa, they forge bonds of friendships between differing cultures and they end up as international friends and real Scouts of the World.

YES Scouts Friends share knowledge, ideas and experiences and promote international scouting with a particular focus on building friendships with the orphans in countries in sub-Saharan Africa region.

YES Scouts Friends regularly organise discovery adventures as part of participating and learning about life and culture of the orphan in Africa and in many instances, this results in meeting friendly scouts and non scouts youth thereby getting an opportunity to establish long lasting orphan to scout friendship.

Sustained orphan to scout friendship often lead to the orphan education support and subsequent exchange visits to each others country.

YES Scouts Friends are a wealthy in the scouting spirit and they take active responsibility to support the orphans in crisis across country, community or religion divide to beat the global AIDS emergency and extreme poverty.  Their desire is to participate in making HIV/AIDS pandemic and extreme poverty history in Africa.

YES Scouts Friends actively participate in resolving the social problems affecting Africa and especially extend the scouting hand of friendship to the orphans to provide support that empowers them meet their basic needs.

By leveraging the communication power of the information and internet technology, YES Scouts Friends communicate far and wide with the orphans.

Through sustained friendship, YES Scouts Friends often surprise the orphans with friendly letters, e-mail messages, cards, education support offers, adoption or graphic gifts that touch on their lives, but most importantly they extend the Scout hand of friendship.

Many online scout-friendships are made and maintained in this manner and where necessary, YES assists with the language translation.

The relationship between YES Orphans and YES Scouts Friends provides a sustainable and powerful infrastructure to promote policy, programme and active support for other orphans in Africa.

YES Scouts Friends is therefore a unique network for all Scouts of the World to use their greatness, wealth and influence in their day to day life to help the needy orphans in Africa.
